Texture in a Room

texture

Texture is the visual, and especially tactile, quality of a surface. In interior design, every object in a room has some sort of texture. The couch, pillows, carpet, and blanket have a soft tactile texture. On the other hand, the floor, wicker basket, side table, and plants have a rough tactile texture. Visually, the blue vases and the wicker basket have a bumpy texture, while the pillows and the green vase have a smooth looking texture. Even though many of us  think texture is something we can only see or feel, you can hear texture as well - called audible texture. Examples of objects with an audible texture in this four-seasons room are the plant, the flowers, the rug, and the wicker basket. Overall texture is important in any room because it gives it a distinct feeling. This room displays mostly a comfortable feeling due to the many different soft textures.
